 FURTHER LEAGUE RULES ↓

All normal volleyball rules apply with the following exceptions:

  • Teams are required to have a ratio of no less than two female players on the court. Teams may play with 4-5 players as long as the gender requirements are met. (if you are short players, and only have 4 or less for that week, then one must be female. If only five, then you need 2 females)
  • If the team decides to play with five players (with on lot one female) the "ghost" (non-existing female player) Will start off the match in position six. When the ghost rotates into position, one to serve, the team forfeits their serve, appoint is awarded to the opposing team, and the other team takes possession of the ball to serve.
  • Games are 15 minutes in length with a five minute warm-up. If you choose to warm up for 15 or five minutes, you still only have a total of 15 minutes on quart per game. The team that wins the most sets in that time wins the game. First two sets are played to 25 points (capped at 27) with rally pointe scoring (Point is scored on every serve) and third set is to 15 (capped at 17). If a third matches started, the game only counts if a total of five points or more is reached (e.g. 1-4, 2-3)
  • Should time run out, even if the game is in the middle of the second set, the team, with a higher score of the winner. Please be considerate in ending games on time to not impact the other teams scheduled game times.
  • League games are self regulated, so teams are required to call their own violations and are expected to be honest and foster a high level of sportsmanship at all times. If there is a disagreement, please reserve the point.
  • If a player's action causes the player to contact the net during play, whether accidentally or not, with any part of the player's body, it is considered a fault. If both opposing players touch the net simultaneously, the ball is declared dead and is replayed.
  • There is a serve limit of 5 serves in effect.  After a player's fifth serve, the team retains service possession but must rotate to another server.
  • Teams can have players rotate off after the serve to position 6 or to serve in position 1 if they have more than six players.  Rotation position on must be consistent throughout the match (can't switch to rotate on from position 1 to 6 in the middle of the set).
  • Any substitute players must have participated in at least one night of regular season round-robin games prior to being eligible to substitute during playoffs.  This participation does not need to be with the same team for which they are substituting.

~~ By fostering good sportsmanship and a positive environment, we can ensure that everyone has a fun league experience. ~~

 LOCATION AND GENERAL INFO ↓

The facility has 2 courts which the league will use and setup for the games

For the enjoyment of all, please respect the following:

  • The school gym is booked for 6 - 9pm; which we need to vacate by no later than 9:00pm.

  • Teams playing at 6pm can arrive 15 minutes early to setup.  Please start games on time so that teams playing can start at their scheduled game time.

  • You will have to ring the doorbell as the outside door will be locked.  It's the round silver button closest to the door (you'll need to press it HARD as it sticks).  It is loud enough that those in the gym playing will be able to hear it to come open.  If you are one of the first to arrive for the 6pm game, someone from the school will let you in.  Please do not prop the first door open as the door alarm will start beeping.

  • All teams are asked to be courteous and help setup and take down nets and poles so that the same individuals don't end up doing it.

  • The net height setup should have the top of the pole at the highest hole and the bottom at 2.34m (co-ed height) as the school may have it set lower for the students.

  • First teams that come in for the 6pm games, the poles and nets will be in the equipment room.  Please ensure that the school caretaker has this unlocked for access.  Last teams playing, please take down the nets and pole and place it back neatly in the equipment room.

  • Since there is no clock in the gym, if someone from either team from each court set an alarm for 7:00pm, 7:55pm, 8:50pm so that games can end on time regardless of the score.  This will help in keeping games to their allotted time allowance.

  • Those who have children coming with them to the games.  The school has asked that they remain in the gym area at all times and not be wandering in any other areas within the school unsupervised.

  • Clean up and take away your garbage when you leave, this will help create a good relationship in continued usage at the facility.
